Dawn Health Collaborates with Merck to Redefine Patient Support Services, Powered by NVIDIA and Microsoft

The four-way collaboration aims to develop a novel support model for people living with chronic diseases in their often complex care journeys by building an Agentic Patient Support Program (PSP) offering to unlock the AI-facilitated future of patient care through secure and trusted agents.

People living with any chronic diseases, particularly rare diseases, are often faced with the difficult reality of trying to continue to live their everyday lives while also keeping up with their treatments and care. For people living with these conditions, this often means being confronted with very complex care journeys: coordinating across multiple specialists, managing ongoing monitoring, and processing significant amounts of information alongside their caregivers.

‍

The episodic nature and limited resources of the existing healthcare ecosystem result in people living with these conditions oftentimes feeling alone and struggling to access relevant support in the moments of true need. Pharmaceutical companies have tried for many years to alleviate some of these needs through their Patient Support Programs (PSPs), however increasing complexity in treatments and care pathways means demand for support is rising, leading to these programs often not being able to keep pace.

‍

Based on that, Merck has decided to take the next step in its patient-centered collaboration with Dawn Health and be the early innovation collaborator to design a first-of-its-kind integrated support ecosystem for people living with rare tumors. The aim is to create an AI-facilitated care journey while ensuring the personal touch of dedicated human support in moments of true need. This draws on the previously announced digital ecosystem currently under development in collaboration between both companies.

To ensure the quality, reliability and trust essential to supporting people living with chronic diseases, the Agentic PSP offering is built on trusted AI technology stack of NVIDIA Nemotron open models & NVIDIA NeMo Guardrails and runs on Microsoft’s industry leading Azure AI infrastructure and services.

In this four-way collaboration, the ambition is to make specialist-level support more personalized, anchored in a deep understanding of their individual patient state, responsive and continuously available to patients in a scalable way - with human support always available whenever needed.

Details on each party's contributions to the four-way collaboration:

‍

  • NVIDIA technologies and services being utilized are NVIDIA Nemotron 3 reasoning models, NVIDIA Nemotron Reranking model, NVIDIA NeMo Guardrails, NVIDIA NeMo Relay, NVIDIA NeMo Gym and NVIDIA NeMo Data Designer.
  • Microsoft services being utilized are Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI Search, the AI Red Teaming Agent, as well as Azure Kubernetes Service, Azure SQL and Azure Monitor to run the Dawn Platform.
  • Merck brings cutting-edge clinical and pharmaceutical expertise needed to validate the service's configuration for the specific patient population’s needs.
  • Dawn Health leads product development, regulatory experience, and the design of patient-facing applications based on the Dawn Platform offering.

Additional details will be shared by Dawn Health and its partners as the work progresses towards the first patients enrolling into this new type of service.
